Country Music is at the heart of the Morrinsville Country Music Club. Singing, playing, listening, or enjoying, the club provides an encouraging environment for all ages to foster an interest in country music.
Over the decades since the clubs inception, participants have ranged from pre-schoolers to octogenarians. The club continues to support members by holding workshops and a monthly concert to further their musical knowledge, ability and experience. This support is vital to ensure the future success of Country Music in this country.
Annual membership is $20 for an individual or $30 for a family. For more information on joining please see the membership page.
Club Activities
Club Nights : The major activity of the club is a monthly concert held on the second Friday of each month. This night is for performing on stage to the general public and all singers are expected to know the words for their songs for the club night, chord charts are not allowed for singers.
In support of the concert, two workshops are held, the first being on the last Friday of the month before the concert, and the second on the first Friday of the month of the concert. These workshops give the opportunity for the performers to practice the song they have selected with the band. It creates a more polished show for club night as the club strives to run club night as a concert would be expected to be run, not just a club night.

Annual Spectacular: Held in September, the Spectacular brings together talented artists from around the country as well as selected performers from within the club.
The show is a highlight in the club's calendar and is normally a sell-out event.
Awards: Club members compete in country music awards throughout the country from Whangarei to Gore. Some club members have also competed in awards in Tamworth Australia, and at the Trans-Tasman Country Music Awards at Norfolk Island.
Outwork: Occasionally the club will be asked to provide entertainment at outside events. It can be a great opportunity for members to perform a number of their songs.
Structure: The Morrinsville Country Music Club is a member of the New Zealand Country Music Association (NZCMA). The NZCMA has structured itself so that there is a regional level between it and the clubs around the country. There are a number of regional areas, Waikato Country Music being the body in our region. With the affiliation to NZCMA, members are able to enter NZCMA sanctioned awards, which in turn means that entrants are competing for entry to the NZCMA Entertainer of the year awards (EOTY). More information on NZCMA and the EOTY Awards are at www.nzcountrymusic.org.nz.
